Looking to spruce up your sewing space? Need a fresh look for the new digs? Or, are you just looking to corral the crazy a bit?
Those old hand-me-downs from grandma’s sewing room can be a fabulous addition to your sewing room. Make your outdated and vintage like old spool racks, shelving, or tables feel as good as new with a fresh coat of paint or lacquer. (Just make sure it’s not of any great value before removing the original finish.) Old painted furniture can really transform your space, typically pairing beautifully with the timeless look of the quilts themselves.
I am loving this spool rack from my late grandmother’s sewing room. It was a little old with a plain wood finish. Since my sewing room furniture is white, I painted it to match. The white paint really brightened the rack and allowed the true colors of the threads to shine. Now I can stay better organized, display my beautiful threads, and have a little part of Grandma with me all the time when I sew!
